About

Stephane Lustig began his career in garden design in the summer of 2012 having achieved a ‘Pass With Distinction’ after studying garden design and horticulture at the prestigious Inchbald School of Garden Design.

Previous to the Inchbald Stephane spent two years studying a Foundation in Garden Design at Capel Manor School.

Behind every garden lies a passion for plants, nature and spacial design.

Each garden has its own requirements. By working together with our clients and listening to their individual needs we can create the spaces which they will enjoy for years to come.
'' I spent 13 years as an air steward for British Airways, which was an amazing experience. After working at 30,000ft in a steel tube for so long I was desperate to be immersed in nature and living things which grow and transform through the seasons. ''
Stephane Lustig
Gardens have always been a passion. My first real space was a balcony in Kennington, 3m x 1m.
It was my little oasis in the city, crammed full with planters, the walls covered in climbers and just enough space for a little brasserie table to sit at and drink a cup of coffee. I progressed to a larger terrace with seating for four (albeit rather squashed in) potted trees and a carpet of woodland planting.

Now I garden over an acre in Norfolk and love every moment of it. Our garden has transformed (still transforming in fact) over the last few years with the addition of a large pond, then a summer house and followed by a deck over the pond where we can sit with our feet in the water watching the rudd enjoying the shallows or the common carp, which have appeared from nowhere, gliding under the lilly pads. We now have a fire pit seating area and a further lounging area we refer to as 'The Beach'.
Surrounded by fields on all sides we truly believe that we have created our own private piece of paradise.

The Process

We treat every garden as individual but the following will show as an example of how we work:
1
Client Brief and design development
A meeting will be arranged on site to discuss what you are looking for, including any particular ideas which you would like us to include in the design. We will then measure up the garden, take lots of photos of the site and spend time designing in the studio and in the garden.
2
Concept Presentation
A more detailed idea will be presented in the form of a Concept Plan, Perspective Elevations, 3D Animation and a Visual Ideas Presentation. Feedback from this presentation will be taken away and progress made towards creating a Master Plan.
3
Master Plan
A presentation will be made to you with the proposed final design for the garden. At this stage you can ask for final amendments to be made if you feel that the brief has not been met. Only once you are happy with the design do we move onto the next stage.
4
Construction drawings
To enable a landscaper to build the proposed design a dimensioned masterplan will be drafted. All specification will be outlined in detail and a number of drawings will be drafted to ensure that no aspect of the design is left to chance.
5
Planting Plan
A detailed planting plan describing all the soft landscaping in the proposed design will be drawn up.A planting schedule detailing pot sizes, quantities and after care will be included to ensure that you or your gardener knows how to look after their investment going forward.
6
Tender
This stage involves producing a tender document to enable contractors to quote for the work involved. It covers all requirements of the landscaper from specifications for materials,  construction, any access limitations to soil preparation and required finishes. If the quote is deemed too high for the budget we go back to the design and work out ways of reducing the cost whilst maintaining the design.
7
Project Inspection
By prior arrangement we are on hand to consult with the landscaper during the landscaping phase thus ensuring that decisions which are needed to be made are done so within the integrity of the design. We work with the landscaper to ensure true attention to detail and the highest level of craftsmanship.
